Appreciation…

MirrorWater_002

I had planned to do a post on an absolutely gorgeous dress I purchased at Zaara, but since I have this photo ready right now I thought I’d go ahead and post this first.  I haven’t worn system layers in quite some time.  Today, I was bumming around my house (low on Lindens, as usual) and I got a group notice from Sweet Distractions saying that anybody who came to the store before 5 pm SLT would get to pick out one free item.  Like I said, I typically stick with mesh, but I saw this little polka dot swimsuit, and I felt a little nostalgic…. Thank you to Tocy at Sweet Distractions for my new bikini.  I haven’t worn a swimsuit in ages, and it inspired me to actually get a little blogging done tonight.  You can’t go wrong with that!

So, with my new swimsuit on and the necklace (that I had been wearing with the dress) from Zaara, I started bouncing around the grid looking for a place to take a picture.  I found the Cave Rua Water Gardens and decided to try out the mirror water tutorial by Strawberry Singh (f0r the first time…).  I am fairly happy with the way the picture turned out, but I also look forward to the next one being better.  So…thanks also to Strawberry Singh

Adventures in purple…

04142013-crimarizon-sideAren’t I brave?  These photos were taken at the photogenic Crimarizon.  I wanted something a little dark but unmistakably fantasy and for the colors to pop without creating chaos.

I was wearing something completely different an hour before these pictures were taken, but somehow what I had originally picked out evolved into a boatload of purple – purple lipstick, purple earrings, purple pants, purple shoes, purple hair!  I was fresh out of Lindens, so I was also at the mercy of my inventory (or freebies, which I didn’t use) to put this look together.  I think for my next post I’ll try to put together a color-themed look without spending Lindens as well.  We’ll see.

Every phone I’ve taken lately has been more exciting than the last.  I started this blog intending for it to mostly be fashion and maybe a little bit of sightseeing, and I’ve fallen in love with taking and editing photos in the process.  Yes, I edit my photos, which has probably been obvious.  I have saved the raw photos and intend to get them up on Flickr, but I just haven’t gotten around to it yet.  I don’t make changes to the integrity of the clothing, and if I do I will let you know.  Most of the photos start out quite dark, so I do some color correction and a little smoothing (blur/iWarp in GIMP).  Either way, I’ll get Flickr updated in the next couple of days.

I started to put this outfit together with the Oversized Top from ISON (previously @Collabor88), but with the taupe instead of the white, but when I tried to coordinate with other items in my inventory it just turned into a messy clash of different shades of rose and taupe.  I then discovered the Margot Ballet Slippers in Eggplant from Slink unpacked in my objects folder, and after I saw just how wonderfully vibrant and purple they were, I decided to base everything around them instead.  I don’t wear purple very often, so I was a tad shocked by how many goodies I found just by searching my inventory with the word “purple.”

Another treasure buried deep in my objects folder was the Brooks capri pant from coldLogic, (in purple, of course).  The ISON Oversized Top doesn’t come in purple, which would have been overkill anyway.  I chose the white top for contrast.

I apologize for not providing a full-body photograph facing forward.  As I’m writing this, I just realized that I didn’t even take one.  I may decide to add one later, but it’s 4 a.m., and I just cannot muster it right now.  If there are questions regarding the pieces I’m wearing from the front view, leave a comment or message me in world, and I’ll gladly throw this back on and provide a raw photo for you.

Branching out…

tiramisu-frontshost_001

I’ve discovered a lot of new things in SL over the last week or two.  Prior to blogging, I mostly went to the same favorite shops and didn’t spend much time sightseeing.  There is so much about Second Life (and about blogging, photography, and time management) that is still very new to me.

I took this photograph on my trip to the Cheeky Tiramisu Cafe and Forest, and I really love this picture.  I don’t typically share much about SL with my boyfriend, who has never been on SL and has gaming addictions of his own (anyone heard of World of Warcraft? lol).  He feigned interest, of course, but I made him look anyway because I was so excited about it.

I’m wearing:

  • Hair ~ Pearl by !Lamb
  • Lips ~ Frost (Pinky w/ teeth) by Pink Fuel
  • Pearls ~ Included in the Golden Pearly Pink Treasure Box by Maxi Gossamer
  • Top ~ Elyse Wrapped Tucked Tank (Floral) by Tee*fy

  • Nails ~ Basic French Nails (White) by Candy Nail
  • Pose ~ [Cloud] Sea Parish by Marukin

Sightseeing: Cheeky Tiramisu Cafe and Forest

I was searching for sightseeing sims the other day and came across the Cheeky Tiramisu Cafe and Forest sim.  I fell in love with the place.  I don’t know that I’ve ever been to a food service establishment in Second Life.  Avatars don’t need to eat, obviously, but it’s still just oh so cute to see all the little food items in the case.  There is also a little camping area, swan-shaped paddle boats, and lots of beautiful scenery.  Photographers, this sim is for you.

Starting somewhere

NevaRiver1_003

Well, I’m blogging. I have decided after playing dress up, taking building classes, and just hanging around Second Life for a few years now to go ahead and blog about it. I’m obviously no pioneer (there are tons of SL blogs out there), but I thought it might be good to do something slightly constructive with all the hours spent in Second Life, so here I am.

This is the pixelated me, Lizzy Yexil, at the Neva River sim in Second Life. The sim is open to the public through March 29th from what I’ve heard, so if you haven’t visited yet and sightseeing is something you enjoy, I suggest you go check it out.

I love my new skin.  I haven’t ventured much when it comes to buying skins, so I usually just return to the same few places when I need a change (particularly LAQ and Belleza).  I stopped by the Skin Fair: 2013 just to see what else was out there.  After getting ejected three or four times for being a lag monster, I was pleasantly surprised to find a skin that I love from a place I had never shopped before.  The Astrali skin in Plute from The Plastik really surprised me and it’s a refreshing change.  I actually altered my shape drastically after getting the Astrali skin because it inspired me to revamp my look, but it would have worked with either shape.  I just wanted something a little sleeker.

Fresh blog, fresh av, fresh start.
